Virtual Surveys
What is a survey?
No two projects are the same. They maybe similar in many ways but they’ll still have their unique requirements. For this reason, we try to undertake surveys for each survey to ensure all requirements are met. As you may already be aware, to get the best picture of a project we like to be on site. Walk around and discuss options with you to ensure we quote you correctly. In addition, by completing a site survey we ensure that you’re not met with any additional costs towards the end of a project for unseen things. A site survey also enables our engineering team to be 100% prepared for the upcoming woks and have all the required information to complete the job. So what is a virtual survey?
What is a virtual survey?
During the Covid lockdowns, site surveys became very challenging. While trying to protect our employees and customers we had to come up with a solution to minimize contact. Understandably, not all work can be completed without contact. Our Engineers still needed to go on site to complete the installations. However, site surveys could be done virtually via teams, facetime, zoom, photos, and videos. These virtual surveys allowed us to reduce exposure to the virus and limit travel.
How does a virtual survey work?
As discussed above we’d arrange a video call with the client for a time when their on-site. The client would then walk us through the premises, showing us the required work. Our project managers will make notes, ask questions, and advise on various solutions. This process generally takes 20 minutes on average. Of course, larger sites/projects will take longer.
Off-site survey
In some cases both parties are unable to be on site due to various reasons. So how do we overcome this? In this instance we’d discuss the requirements of the job over telephone, email, or video conference. These conversations are normally supported by additional documentation such as:
- Floor Layouts and drawings
- External & Internal building photos
- Specific area photo (areas to be worked in)
- Fuse Boards
- Elevations
What services are available as a virtual survey?
Our full range of services can be virtually surveyed or completed off-site. It’s important to note, some services require a lot more information to provide an accurate quotation. In many cases, it really depends on the complexity of your requirements, building and available documentation.
Offsite surveys completed in the last 12 months
- Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat7 and Cat8 Cabling
- Fibre Optic Cabling links (internally and externally)

Virtual Survey Summary
Virtual and Off-Site surveys have now become part of our standard service. So, if you have a project but are pressed for time, we have a solution for you. Our project team have quickly adapted to this new way of completing surveys. Provided the details & requirements presented to us are accurate and remain the same, we can guarantee an accurate quote for your project. Lastly, virtual surveys have helped us reduce our emissions by not travelling all over the country.
